The Jharkhand High Court cause list, and where it is published
The Jharkhand High Court publishes its cause lists on its own website, at the Entire Cause List page. One Court day normally has more than one publication: a Daily Cause List, a Supplementary Cause List, and separate Notified lists for individual Courts. Each is its own PDF, published at its own time, and a matter can appear in any of them.
What a supplementary cause list is, and why it appears after you have checked
A supplementary cause list is a further list published for a Court day after the daily list has already been settled. It adds matters that were not in the daily list. Because it is published later, a day that looked settled in the morning can carry a matter of yours by the afternoon — which is why checking once is not the same as knowing.
The Jharkhand High Court display board, and what S/8 and D/52 mean
The Jharkhand High Court publishes a live display board on its website showing, for each Court, the item currently being taken. A value like S/8 means item 8 of the supplementary stream; D/52 means item 52 of the daily stream. The two are separate sequences, so a board on S/8 tells you nothing numeric about a matter listed at D/12.
How to check case status in the Jharkhand High Court
Case status for the Jharkhand High Court is published through the eCourts High Court services, where a matter can be looked up by its case number, by advocate, and by other published indexes. The searches are protected by a CAPTCHA, so each look-up is done by hand. What comes back is the registry’s own record: parties, acts, the days recorded so far, and the next date fixed.
Filing number and case number: two different numbers that look the same
A matter is listed under its filing number while it is before the Registrar — the cause list marks it "(Filing No.)" — and under its registration number once registration completes. They are two separate counters, both printed as number/year, so the same-looking number can belong to two entirely different matters. Each has its own search on eCourts, and they are not interchangeable.
Finding an order or judgement in the Jharkhand High Court
Orders and judgements in the Jharkhand High Court are published against the case record on the eCourts High Court services, alongside the days recorded in the matter. The reliable route is to open the case record and take the order from it, rather than searching for a document by name: the record says which day the order belongs to, which is what makes it the right order.
